Sandra Cocón

Sandra is a Kaqchikel Maya, originally from Patzún in the department of Chimaltenango, Guatemala. She is a Teacher of Urban Primary Education and is pursuing a career in Clinical Psychology at the University of Mariano Gálvez.

She has extensive experience in community development, rural education and in promoting the rights of adolescent girls and women in Guatemala. Since 2013, she has collaborated in IDM as a Program Assistant overseeing the development, implementation and evaluation of all activities with adolescent girls, in addition to training in women’s rights and collaborating with community leaders in the development of strategies for the prevention of early unions and child marriages.
