Benilda is 22 years old and originally from the village of Palo Blanco in the state of Jalapa, Guatemala. She graduated from technical school with a degree in business administration. When she was 18 she began to participate in COINCIDIR and was later selected to be an educator with the organization. As an educator, she has promoted popular education and community-building processes with adolescents as well as adults from the villages.
Benilda considers herself to be a “fair, honest and dedicated person” in what she does. She is motivated by the injustice that exists in her community in regards to girls and adolescents’ rights and strives to work with and for them to achieve justice, equality and equity.
